Privacy.

This is a personal portfolio. I don't sell anything on it, I don't run ads, and there's no login or checkout. But I do measure traffic, and one of the tools I use can identify some visitors by name. That last part is unusual enough that it deserves a straight explanation rather than a buried clause.

I use Vercel Web Analyticsto count page views and see which pages people read and where they arrived from. It doesn't set cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites. It tells me “forty people read the Bando case study,” not who they were.

I also run Metricool, which counts the same visits and reports them next to my social accounts so I can see which posts sent people here. It stores a first-party identifier in your browser so a return visit isn't counted twice. It doesn't tell me who you are and it isn't used for advertising.

I use RB2B(operated by Retention.com). It attempts to match visitors against a third-party identity database. When it matches, I'm shown a name, a LinkedIn profile, and sometimes an employer and job title.

It only resolves people already in that database, it only covers the United States, and it fails on most visits. If you use an ad blocker it does nothing at all.

I use it to know when to follow up with someone, not to catch anyone out. I did not build this database and I can't edit it, which is why the opt-out below points at RB2B rather than at me.

The site runs on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses, for security and reliability. That's normal for any website and I don't do anything with those logs.

I don't sell or rent anything collected here. I don't run advertising or retargeting pixels. There's no mailing list, so nothing signs you up for one. Nobody else gets access to this data.

To remove yourself from RB2B's database entirely, which covers this site and every other site using them, use their opt-out form. You can also request a report of what they hold on you, or call them on 855-306-2455. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, covered on their CCPA page.

A browser-level ad or tracker blocker also stops the identification script on this site, immediately and without asking anyone.
